“Roya Backlund is a writer, poet, and actress. Her work has appeared in numerous literary publications online and in print. She has also acted in many short and independent films. She is a graduate of University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in English literature concentrating in creative writing and is a co-founder of Kings Zine, a literary and artistic collective based in Los Angeles. Her debut poetry collection Juice was released on February 25th, 2017. Her work explores themes of love, loss, abuse, femininity, sexism, and reclaiming autonomy over the body and self. She’s mainly interested in writing about art, film, health, beauty, and takes every opportunity to critique the status quo.”
